The 31st floor of Lehman Brothers' Times Square headquarters was a haven of dealmaking, powerbroking and intrigue.
Its dark-panelled offices and mauve carpets were the stage where, for years, Dick Fuld, the Lehman chief known as "the Gorilla", and a handful of lieutenants had built a scrappy upstart into one of the world's largest investment banks.
Today, "Club 31", as one former executive calls it, lies shuttered and empty.
