A consortium led by Want Want Group, the Taiwanese snack maker, has agreed to acquire China Network Systems, Taiwan’s leading cable television company.
A person close to the transaction said it was worth $2.4bn. This would make it the biggest cable TV deal in Asia and the largest private equity transaction in the region since 2006, according to Dealogic.
The agreement follows an auction that pitted the consortium against foreign investors Bain Capital, Permira and Macquarie Group.
