IMI signs nuclear joint venture in China

IMI is to enter into a new joint venture in China in its second foray to increase exposure to emerging markets this year.

The Birmingham-based engineering group has agreed a memorandum of understanding with Shanghai Automation Instrumentation, a big supplier to the Chinese nuclear industry, to produce valves for new power generation plants.

James Pickren, president of IMI Nuclear, said: “China is investing heavily in new nuclear power generation over the long term and this new venture will enable IMI to play a significant role in this development and is an important part of our overall nuclear strategy”.
