MG will this week begin fully-fledged production of what it is describing as its first all-new car in 16 years.
On Wednesday the brand, owned by China’s biggest carmaker SAIC, will begin assembling the five-door “fastback” that it will also later offer as a saloon.
The cars will be assembled from Chinese-made bodies and engines by a small cohort of workers at MG’s plant in Longbridge, Birmingham, in the UK.
