Saab set to restart production

Saab Automobile is planning to resume production next week after the Swedish carmaker secured a financial lifeline from Hawtai Motor of China.

Victor Muller, the Dutch entrepreneur who saved Saab from bankruptcy last year, said the €150m ($223m) deal would solve the renewed liquidity crisis that had thrown the company’s future into doubt.

No cars have been produced at Saab’s Swedish plant for the past three weeks after suppliers halted deliveries in protest over unpaid bills.
