India and China have agreed to resume joint military exercises, signalling a tentative thaw in their sometimes frosty relations.
A.K. Antony, the Indian defence minister, and General Liang Guanglie, his Chinese counterpart, agreed at talks in New Delhi to conduct joint exercises “at the earliest”, the Indian defence ministry said.
They also plan to strengthen naval co-operation in anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden and off Somalia, conduct joint search and rescue exercises at sea and promote mutual port calls by navy ships.
