Wall Street goes into lockdown in advance of  hurricane Sandy

Wall Street was set to remain closed for a second straight day as the financial industry prepared for hurricane Sandy to make landfall in New Jersey late yesterday.

US equities trading was closed all yesterday, while fixed-income markets observed an early close of midday and will shut operations today.

The Bureau of Labour Statistics said the release of the US non-farm payrolls data due on Friday – the last of the big economic news before the US election – could be reviewed.
