UN expands sanctions on North Korea

The UN Security Council tightened sanctions on North Korea on Tuesday in response to its satellite launch last December, following an agreement between the US and China on new measures to punish the Pyongyang regime.

North Korea immediately responded to the UN vote by saying that it would step up its nuclear weapons programme.
