Impetus starts to build in global IPOs market

Whisper it quietly in case you jinx it, but there are growing signs of a resurgence in company flotations. This comes after a dismal two years of failed deals and declining activity for the global initial public offering market.

Widespread bond market interventions by central banks have lifted risk appetite since late last year, causing a sustained rally in equity markets and sharp declines in volatility – a strong environment for company flotations.

There have also been inflows into equity funds from retail investors, meaning the large US-based global fund managers have extra money to put to work. Buying new issues is often the quickest way to build a position.
