Call to end auditor anonymity

The head of the US audit regulator has made a fresh call for senior auditors to be stripped of their anonymity as details ­continued to emerge from the KPMG insider trading scandal.

James Doty, chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, said investors were in favour of ending the secrecy that shrouds the identity of the auditor in charge of vetting the accounts of public companies in the US.

“Investors really want this. They don’t see why they shouldn’t have it,” he told the Financial Times.
