Tech groups rewarded for rapid advertising shift on mobile devices

A year ago, investors worried that companies such as Facebook, Google and Pandora might struggle to adapt their business models as consumers shifted from desktop PCs to mobile devices.

But a rally in technology stocks has largely put paid to such doubts – and investors are rewarding those companies that have moved rapidly to build out their advertising products on smartphones and tablets.

“We all know mobility is the future of technology, but up until six months ago, you didn’t get the impression these companies knew how to deal with mobility,” said Oliver Pursche, portfolio manager at Gary Goldberg Financial Services.
