The trial of Bo Xilai, the disgraced Chinese politician whose dramatic purge revealed discord within the ruling Communist party, will begin on Thursday, the official Xinhua news agency said yesterday.
A court in eastern China will start Mr Bo’s trial on charges of bribery, corruption and abuse of power, in what is likely to be one of the most celebrated political show trials in China in recent memory.
Mr Bo’s downfall came after his wife was accused of murdering British businessman Neil Heywood, but it exposed deeper disagreements within China’s ruling party.
