Goldman Sachs recruits Zoellick to advisers’ board

Robert Zoellick, the former president of the World Bank, is joining Goldman Sachs as chairman of the bank’s board of international advisers.

Mr Zoellick was president of the World Bank until June 2012. As a prominent member of Mitt Romney’s campaign for the US presidency last year, it was expected that he would be nominated to a senior role – such as secretary of state or Treasury secretary – if the Republican had won.

He said he hoped “to help both the senior team at Goldman and their clients” and was attracted to the position because it was “an excellent opportunity to stay in touch with developments in markets and investments”.
