Flight MH370’s co-pilot made last communication

The last words spoken to air traffic control from the missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft came from the co-pilot, not the captain, the country’s authorities said on Monday, as the biggest hunt for a missing commercial airliner in aviation history expanded to involve 26 countries.

The disclosure, by Malaysia Airlines chief executive Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, came as authorities also revealed that police had visited the homes of the two pilots hours after flight MH370 disappeared nine days ago.

“Initial investigation suggests it was the co-pilot who spoke,” Mr Ahmad told a daily news conference. The co-pilot is Fariq Ab Hamid, a 27-year old Malaysian who joined the airline in 2007.
