Shanghai Exchange to allow trading of HK shares

The Shanghai Stock Exchange will begin to permit limited trading of Hong Kong shares, according to the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

The mainland's stock market is mostly closed to foreign investors but, signalling further reforms, the CSRC said it will allow up to Rmb10.5bn of trading in some Hong Kong-listed shares on the Shanghai Exchange.

It has also set a daily quota allowing the Hong Kong Exchange to trade up to Rmb13bn of Shanghai-listed stocks.
