Marine police are searching for almost 300 people after a ferry carrying more than 450 passengers sank off the southwest coast of South Korea yesterday, leaving at least five people dead.
Officials initially reported that all but a handful of people had been taken off the ship, before admitting that only 368 people had been rescued with 107 still unaccounted for.
In the afternoon the missing list increased to 294, and those rescued fell to 164, according to the ministry of security and public administration.
