Pu Zhiqiang, whose clients have included Ai Weiwei, the artist, was detained yesterday on suspicion of “causing a disturbance”, according to a notice issued by the Beijing police.
His detention is the latest in a series of arrests and prosecutions that have targeted human rights activists and labour leaders over recent months.
