Vietnam considers legal action against China

Vietnam is considering taking China to international court to try to resolve an increasingly dangerous dispute over contested waters in the resource-rich South China Sea.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told Reuters that Vietnam was contemplating measures that could include legal action, writes Demetri Sevastopulo in Hong Kong.

Ernie Bowers, a southeast Asia expert at CSIS, said Hanoi was "seriously considering" following in the footsteps of Manila by bringing a case to the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague.
