Three of China’s biggest asset management companies have toured Europe with a view to establishing subsidiaries in the UK and bringing China-focused funds to European investors.
E Fund Management, Haitong Securities and CSOP Asset Management, three of China’s largest fund houses by assets, recently toured Europe with Citigroup to meet other European fund houses and explore setting up Ucits funds, according to Stewart Aldcroft, Asia chief executive of CitiTrust, Citigroup’s securities and funds services business.
A senior figure in the UK asset management industry, who asked to remain anonymous, said E Fund Management was “close” to establishing a London arm.
