An Iranian passenger aircraft flying from Tehran crashed immediately after taking off, killing most of the passengers and crew on board.
The passenger aircraft was flying to Tabas in central Iran on Sunday, and belonged to the local Sepahan Airlines. The Antonov An-140 took off from Tehran’s Mehrabad airport at 9.18am local time and quickly crashed nearby smashing into a wall near a residential unit next to the airport.
Domestic media reported that about 39 passengers and crew on board were killed. The nine injured were taken to hospital.
