Chinese exports grew at their fastest pace in 19 months in September, rising 15.3 per cent from a year ago, according to official customs data published on Monday.
Imports also increased, up 7 per cent from the same month a year earlier after declining in August but analysts warned against taking the improving figures as evidence of a strong recovery in the world’s second-largest economy.
The rebound in exports was partly due to a low base in September last year, although it also signalled some improvement in growth in developed economies, particularly the US.
