Investors have pushed the value of China's currency to its weakest valuation since July, countering efforts from China's central bank to guide the renminbi higher in recent days.
The People's Bank of China lifted the daily fix by 0.08 percentage points today, 0.15 points on Monday and 0.06 points on Friday.
But the onshore renminbi, which can trade within a 2 per cent band from the daily fix set by the PBoC, has weakened 0.5 per cent today and 0.3 per cent on Monday. These are big moves for the tightly controlled currency.
