The French interior minister said on Friday that a major police operation was in progress near Paris’s main airport as the manhunt for two brothers suspected to have carried out the murder of 12 people at the offices of a French satirical magazine entered a third day.
Shortly after 9.30am Bernard Cazeneuve said elite police forces were engaged in Dammartin-en-Goêle, a town 5 km northeast of Charles de Gaulle airport.
“At the moment, a (police) operation is ongoing at Dammartin-en-Goële” in connection with the Charlie Hebdo killings, he said, adding that special forces were on their way and an assault was imminent.
