A London-based online fashion retailer has become the latest British start-up to be valued at $1bn, sparking renewed fears that the UK’s tech sector is overhyped.
Farfetch, which runs a website selling luxury garments from independent boutiques, said yesterday that it had received $86m in a funding round led by DST Global, a venture capital firm run by Yuri Milner, who was an early backer of Facebook, Twitter and Alibaba.
