Corruption sleuth lifts lid on Xi campaign

A top Communist party corruption investigator has boasted of his conquests in bringing down a series of high-level officials in a rare glimpse of the inner workings of President Xi Jinping’s signature anti-graft campaign.

In a closed-door speech the auditor also revealed the ideological faultlines beneath Mr Xi’s efforts to overhaul the bloated state sector as he berated executives at two big state-owned enterprises for lax political rectitude.

The speech by Xu Aisheng, director of the Communist party disciplinary inspection office at China Ocean Shipping (Cosco), circulated on social media this week before censors deleted it.
