David Cameron’s cabinet has approved a motion to put before parliament on Wednesday calling for RAF air strikes in Syria, as Jeremy Corbyn told his MPs that “there’s no hiding place” for those who support the prime minister.
Mr Cameron is expected to win the vote despite escalating pressure from the opposition leader and his supporters on Labour MPs inclined to back an increased UK role in the international coalition against Isis.
The text of the motion released by Downing Street promises not to deploy UK troops in ground combat operations and asks the Commons to support “military action, specifically air strikes, exclusively against Isil in Syria”.
