A 17-year-old from Afghanistan was shot dead by German police after he attacked fellow passengers on a train with an axe.
While there was no immediate information about the assailant’s motives, the police are investigating a report that he shouted the Islamic call “Allah Akbar (God is great)”.
Four people were injured, three seriously, in the attack on Monday evening near the city of Würzburg, in Bavaria, some 120km west of Frankfurt, the financial capital.
