Donald Trump has spent his first weekend in the Oval Office attacking the “dishonest” media in a confrontation with news groups that sets the tone for his aggressive style of leadership.
The new US president’s focus on criticising the media comes as only two of his cabinet nominees have been confirmed by the Senate and after Mr Trump issued a call to stop “American carnage” — a reference to crime, drugs and economic decline.
Reince Priebus, the new White House chief of staff, told Fox News yesterday there was “an obsession by the media to delegitimise this president”, adding: “We are not going to sit around and let it happen.”
