The leading contender for the South Korean presidency has struck back at US sabre-rattling over North Korea, saying any military action on the peninsula must have Seoul’s consent.
Moon Jae-in, a left-leaning politician who has said he would meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to reduce tensions, said the US and China were sidelining Seoul and showing a tendency to deal with the peninsula’s problems “in their own interest”.
The comments come amid growing concern in South Korea that a US-led conflict in North Korea is imminent.
