Anna Sui’s many accolades include the 2009 Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The designer launched her first collection in 1981 and is known for her meticulous research and signature rock’n’roll romanticism.
What was your childhood or earliest ambition?
When I was four, I was a flower girl at my aunt and uncle’s wedding in New York. After seeing the city and the glamorous clothes, on the way home I said that I wanted to be a fashion designer and live in New York.
