Chinese president Xi Jinping will unveil the new leadership team for his second term in mid-October, the official Xinhua news agency said on Thursday.
In a brief announcement, Xinhua said the ruling Chinese Communist party’s 19th congress would convene in Beijing on October 18.
The opening of this year’s party congress has been one of the most anticipated, and closely guarded, dates on China’s political calendar, as it will mark the beginning of Mr Xi’s second five-year term as both party general secretary and chairman of the powerful Central Military Commission that controls China’s armed forces.
