South Korea and China have agreed to reset relations almost a year after Beijing launched a punitive economic war against Seoul over its decision to host a US-operated missile defence shield.
“The two sides attached great importance to the Korea-China relationship and decided to push for the further development of the strategic co-operative partnership,” South Korea’s foreign ministry said in a joint press release with its counterpart in China.
Relations between the two neighbours soured this year as Seoul rolled out the US-owned and operated Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (Thaad) platform to counter potential ballistic missile threats from North Korea.
