The US Supreme Court will allow a controversial ban imposed by the Trump administration on travellers from certain countries to take effect while legal challenges continue.
Two of the high court’s nine judges, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayer dissented from the order on Monday evening, which will put on hold a lower-court decision that stopped the ban from being fully implemented.
An earlier version of the travel ban was written and issued within weeks of US President Donald Trump taking office, pertaining to travellers from six Muslim-majority countries.
