South Korean President Moon Jae-in will this week travel to China as the two nations attempt to chart a peaceful solution to the North Korean nuclear crisis amid the growing threat of war from the US.
The trip — Mr Moon’s first state visit to Beijing — will also be used to mend bilateral ties, which disintegrated this year after China launched an economic boycott of South Korean companies and goods.
In Beijing, Mr Moon is expected to urge Xi Jinping, China’s president, to step up efforts to solve the nuclear crisis with North Korea — a situation that experts warn is becoming increasingly precarious.
