Dong Wang, a 12-year veteran of the Chinese fund management industry, has some useful advice for global investment companies considering entering the market.
“You have to take a long-term view,” says the chief executive of HSBC Jintrust Fund Management, a joint venture between the London-listed group and local Shanxi Trust. “It’s not something that you can come to overnight, hit the jackpot and make a big fortune.”
China’s allure to international managers is clear. As the fastest-growing multi-trillion dollar investment market, it is on course to become the second-biggest within two years, behind only the US.
