A key economic adviser to Chinese president Xi Jinping says the country has “stood firm against all forms of protectionism”, forming yet another contrast with the America First agenda at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
“We are moving economic globalisation forward with concrete actions,” Liu He said in an address.
Mr Liu, 65, is Xi Jinping’s most trusted economic adviser and accompanies the president on most of his overseas trips. He is a vice minister at the National Development and Reform Commission, but his real power comes from his position as director of a Chinese Communist party “leading group” on financial and economic affairs.
