China posts first trade deficit in over a year

Chinese exports fell back in March with the country posting its first trade deficit in dollar-denominated terms in more than a year.

China’s dollar-denominated exports fell 2.7 per cent year on year in March, according to figures from the General Administration of Customs, coming in short of a Reuters poll forecasting a 10 per cent increase.

Imports rose 14.4 per cent in dollar-denominated terms, higher than the 10 per cent increase forecast.
