N Korea still willing to meet US after Trump cancels summit

North Korea said on Friday that it is still willing to meet the US and is open to resolving nuclear issues with Washington through dialogue whenever and however.

The comments came after US president Donald Trump cancelled the June 12 summit with the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un following a week of rhetorical brinkmanship that had previously raised fears of military confrontation on the Korean peninsula.

"We had set in high regards President Trump's efforts, unprecedented by any other president, to create a historic North Korea-U.S. summit," North Korea’s vice foreign minister Kim Kye Gwan said in a statement released by the North's official Korea Central News Agency news agency.
