North Korea and the US have pledged to work towards “complete denuclearisation” on the Korean peninsula, according to an agreement signed by US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday.
The agreement, which also said Mr Trump had committed to provide security guarantees to North Korea, was signed following a historic summit between the two leaders in Singapore. In it, the two leaders state:
1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new US-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
