Trade war forces Tesla to raise car prices in China

Tesla, the electric-vehicle company, has become one of the first US casualties in a mounting tariff war with China.

Over the weekend, prices of cars on Tesla’s Chinese website rose between Rmb150,000 to Rmb250,000 ($22,600 to $37,600) depending on the model, according to industry news source Electrek.

China started imposing 25 per cent tariffs on 545 categories of US products worth $34bn including certain passenger cars, including electric vehicles, last week.
