‘No rush’ to deal with North Korea nuclear threat, says Trump

Donald Trump said there was “no rush” to deal with the threat from North Korea as sanctions remained in place, in comments that highlighted his administration’s lack of progress on the issue since his June summit with Kim Jong Un.

“There is no rush, the sanctions remain! Big benefits and exciting future for North Korea at end of process,” Mr Trump wrote as part of a Twitter storm defending his controversial summit with Russian president Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday.

Mr Trump on Wednesday said North Korea had been a “major topic” in his meeting with Mr Putin. He said the Russian leader had agreed to help tackle the North Korean nuclear threat but that the US did not have a timeline for dealing with the issue.
