Rescuing America from ‘the devil’s workshop’

The most striking image from the latest leaks about US president Donald Trump is the staff’s description of his bedroom as “the devil’s workshop”. It packs in all we need know about why his White House is suffering a nervous breakdown.

Mr Trump’s most authentic self lives upstairs, away from the censorious eyes and ears of his staff. Even at the heart of his power, Mr Trump belongs to an ostracised minority. With one hand on the TV remote and the other typing out tweets, Mr Trump’s bedroom is the bridge of his Star Trek Enterprise. He descends to the Oval Office for photo-ops and one or two daily meetings.

The second most disturbing fact is that barely any of his staff respect him. But then I repeat myself.
