The £1m sale of the Banksy painting that was shredded by its own frame has been completed, after the successful bidder, a female European collector, pressed ahead with the purchase.
The painting, “Girl With Balloon”, has been designated by the anonymous street artist as a new work with a new title, “Love Is In the Bin”, according to Sotheby’s. The auction house has had it certified by Pest Control, Banksy’s handling services organisation.
The half-shredded painting is to go on public display at Sotheby’s London salerooms on Saturday and Sunday.
