Donald Trump said China had “agreed to reduce and remove” tariffs on imports of cars from the US in a late-night tweet that left open questions of how much and when import duties might be reduced.
The tweet late on Sunday night by the US president said the current tariff was 40 per cent.
That was accurate but left out the role played by Mr Trump’s tariffs on imports of Chinese goods in boosting Chinese tariffs to their current level.
