GoPro shifts production out of China to avoid tariff threat

GoPro has begun to shift manufacturing of its action cameras out of China, as it tries to dodge the impact of the US-China trade war.

The move makes GoPro the first brand-name device maker to pull production out of China after US President Donald Trump began to impose tariffs on US imports from the world’s largest electronics workshop.

“Today’s geopolitical business environment requires agility, and we’re proactively addressing tariff concerns by moving most of our US-bound camera production out of China,” said Brian McGee, GoPro’s chief financial officer. “We believe this diversified approach to production can benefit our business regardless of tariff implications.”
