Huawei has sacked an executive in an effort to distance itself from global scrutiny over links with the Chinese state following his arrest alongside a former Polish state security officer in Poland on allegations of spying for China’s secret service.
Huawei said on Saturday that it had “decided to terminate the employment of Mr Wang Weijing, who was arrested on suspicion of breaking Polish law. His alleged actions have no relation to the company”.
Huawei added that it had made the decision “because the incident in question has brought Huawei into disrepute.”
