Indian jets crossed the line of control with neighbouring Pakistan early Tuesday morning, and bombed a remote region, as tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours escalated after a deadly terror attack in Indian-held Kashmir earlier this month.
New Delhi has made no official statement on the strike. But the semi-official news ANI news agency, quoting unnamed Indian Air Force sources, has reported that 12 Mirage jets dropped 1,000 kilogram bombs on a training camp of the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad outside the town of Balakot, in Pakistani-held Kashmir.
Quoting the air force sources, ANI reported that the camps had been “completely destroyed.”
