Production at UK car plants fell for the ninth consecutive month
in February, dropping by 15 per cent in what was described as a “wake-up call” to the challenges facing the automotive manufacturing sector by the official trade body.
Exports to China fell sharply, while sales to the EU, by far the largest export market for UK vehicles, also dropped, according to figures published on Thursday by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
