Ford to launch 30 new models in China to stem plummeting sales

Ford Motor is to launch 30 models in China over the next three years in an effort to stem its plummeting sales in the world’s largest car market.

Anning Chen, appointed the US group’s senior executive in China in October, said the company was still working on a plan to curb the collapse in sales. The Detroit group’s total sales in China dropped 37 per cent last year while at its main joint venture with Changan the fall was 54 per cent— the worst performance of a foreign-invested car company in the country.

The joint venture has laid off hundreds of workers at its Chongqing plant during the past few months.
