Mnuchin and Lighthizer to head to Beijing as trade talks resume

Top US trade officials will travel to Beijing next week for another round of negotiations with their Chinese counterparts, as the world’s two biggest economies inch closer to a new trade deal.

Robert Lighthizer, US trade representative, and Steven Mnuchin, Treasury secretary, will travel to China on April 30 to continue negotiations on a trade deal with China’s Vice Premier Liu He, the White House said in a statement.

Mr Liu will then lead a delegation to Washington for further discussions starting on May 8.
